The comparator network (also known as an "arithmetic network") is what processes the four quadrants of a monopulse antenna into the SUM, Delta AZ, Delta EL, and Delta Q signals.

A Monopulse antenna has four feeds, which can be horns or other radiators. We'll use the convention of the Cartesian coordinate system, where the quadrants are labeled starting in the upper right, then go counterclockwise, in this case,

By inputting a signal into a 4-way power divider with phase matched cables attached to A,B,C and D, the ΣAZ port should combine the signals in phase while the other output ports should have the signals cancel. Note that all unconnected ports should be terminated into 50 ohms. We expect a similar result to:

Output ΣAZ has all 4 inputs combined in phase and should only have the insertion loss of the 4-way divider + the insertion loss of the monopulse comparator. ΔEL, ΔAZ, ΔQ all have 2 inputs in phase and 2 inputs 180 degrees out of phase that should theoretically cancel to below -30 dB or close.
